Gosainkund is a holiest lake situated in the Langtang Himalayan region of Nepal. It has been popular among the Hindu and Buddhist pilgrims and a holiest religious destination. Having the historical bond of relationship with the God Shiva, Hindu people visit the holy lake Gosaikunda during the full moon night in August every year. According to Hindu mythology when the God churned the primordial ocean to produce elixir of eternal life, the poison was also produced along with elixir. To cool down his burning throat, Lord Shiva struck his trident into the rock creating the three springs which finally resulted in the formation of the beautiful lakes. After all he drank the water of the lakes and got rid from the pain.  Lord Shiva drank the poison to save the universe. The treks start from Dhunche or Melamchi gaun. We will pass through the pine, oak and rhododendron dense forest. If you are trekking this route in the spring season, you can view the spectacular blooming rhododendron flowers, a scenic magnificence of nature. This trek program and trail offer many opportunities to explore and experience the lifestyle of ethnic lama and Tamang people, typical villages, splendid mountain views, Buddhist monasteries and the legend Gosainkund Lake.
